Hey guys! I've been asked a few times where I get my social media buttons, but I actually made them myself! So I decided to make a step-by-step tutorial on how to make them. It's super easy and doesn't take much time at all.
Tutorial after the break!
The only requirement is that you have Photoshop. You can download the free trial here, then you can use it for 30 days. *Note: I am using CS5.5, and the trial is for the new CC. But the tools I'm using should still all be the same.
Step 1: Create a new file in Photoshop with dimensions 55px by 55px
Step 2: Select the Ellipse Tool
Step 3: Click on the Color tool
Step 4: Choose which color you'd like your button to be
Step 5: While holding down the Shift key, create a circle as close to the edges without touching
Step 6: Google "Facebook F png" (png is important), and pick which one you want to use, then save to Desktop
Step 7: Open file in Photoshop
Step 8: Drag the "F" into your original file
Step 8: Click your Command + T keys to enable the Free Transform tool
Step 9: Size down (dragging a corner in while holding down the Shift key) to how you want it and center it using your arrow keys, then hit Enter
Step 10: Make sure your Layers panel is visible (if it isn't, check Layers in your Window drop down), and double click the Facebook "F" layer
Step 11: It will bring up your Layer Style box, check Color Overlay, and select which color you want your "F" to be, and click OK twice
Step 12: In the Layers panel, turn your Background layer visibility off (click the eye icon)
Step 13: Now you can see checkered print behind your button, this just means that part of it isn't visible
Step 14: File > Save As, title what you want, then on the Format drop down make sure you select PNG, then Save
Step 15: Click OK
And violá! You made your first social media button! Not too bad, huh? Now to make your other ones, just search Google for your other png's. Twitter, Pinterest, etc.. Then repeat each of the steps! Also if you want to post them on your page, use whichever image hosting site you want, and upload your final png file there.
If you guys have any questions, please feel free to ask!
